Gum Disease

What is gum disease and why should there be so much concern?

Periodontal disease (gum disease) can start out mild (Gingivitis) and then lease to serious (Periodontitis) if not treated. These are serious infections that can actually lead to tooth loss if not treated. Most often Gingivitis is caused by poor oral hygiene or simply put, bad habits!

For the most part, the symptoms of Gingivitis include red and swollen gums and a tendency to bleed. Once Gingivitis is left untreated it can then eventually lead to Periodontitis. This can then lead to serious infections, destruction of gum tissue and bone and eventually a loosening of teeth and or tooth loss.
